LTTE intelligence leader divulged about one ton bomb buried in Avissawella

The Colombo Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) yesterday informed the
Court that an LTTE intelligence leader divulged that a high explosive bomb
weighing one ton that had been brought by the LTTE to blast Colombo is still
buried in Avissawella.
A resident of Vavunia Rajendra Kumar has revealed that this high explosive
was brought under the instructions of LTTE inteligence head Pottu Amman and
hidden. Magistrate Nirosha Fernando ordered the Commissioner General of Prisons
to handover the suspect to the TID Colombo for three days. It is also revealed
that nineteen firearms, 3,500 T-56 ammunition, three LMG weapons, Rs 10 million
in cash and chocolates worth of Rs 8 million were hidden with the one ton bomb.
The suspect is in remand custody in connection with four cases being heard
before the Gampaha and Attanagalla courts.
The suspect was an active LTTE intelligence leader. He voluntarily revealed
the information. Following a complaint made by the prison authorities to the TID
Colombo, investigations had commenced. The suspect had later been taken to the
TID on last 6th and the TID informed Court that the investigation could not be
completed. The TID requested court to allow the suspect to be retained for a
period of another three or four days.
The Magistrate ordered that the LTTE suspects Rajendra Kumar and Yogarajah
Niroshan be handed over to the TID. The court also allowed the suspects to be
taken to Avissawella under prison protection.
