The Defence Ministry will take stern action against Opposition Parliamentarians who assist the Tamil Diaspora who are planing to bring disrepute to the country by making false statements while touring the western countries, said Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) Director General Lakshman Hulugalla at a press conference held at the Police Headquarters yesterday morning.

The Media Director said that all Parliamentarians have taken oaths under the Constitution that they will not make any statements to bring disrepute to the country while touring abroad.
Recently, Channel Four to assist LTTE cadres had telecast a five minute program about Sri Lanka’s human rights situation.
This had been organised by the Opposition members who travel abroad frequently to bring disrepute to the Sri Lankan Government.
The Sri Lankan Defence Ministry had clearly stated that the Channel Four program telecast was a totally misleading message to the foreign investors who are willing to come to Sri Lanka.
“We will take stern action against those people and organisations who are planning to bring disrepute to the Sri Lankan Government,” the Media Director said quoting the Defence Secretary. Inspector General of Police Mahinda Balasuriya presided over the conference.
The MCNS Director General emphasised that the Defence Ministry is not only for the Three Forces and the Police but also for 22 other organizations.
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who has a clear view to develop the country had undertaken 22 other organizations under his wing.
Hulugalla told the media that on the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa the police teams had conducted several raids and arrested several suspects who are involved in hard drug trafficking and the illicit liquor trade.
Demand reduction of hard drugs is very important to eradicate the drug menace from the country, Media Director General said
