Colombo Lankapuvath) Sri Lankan Tamils living in the UK together with Sinhala organizations have prepared a petition to urge British authorities to charge Adele Balasingham,wife of late LTTE Theoretician Anton Balasingham for being directly involved in the suicide incidents of LTTE child combatants by garlanding them with cyanide capsules within the territory of Sri Lanka.
Reports from London received this morning stated the petition noted that Adele had directly aided and abetted in committing murder of children of another country while living in Britain during that period.A video clip that captured the moment in Wanni,Northern Sri Lanka, where Adele tied the knot of the first cyanide capsule around the neck of a 12 year old female child combatant is being attached as direct evidence to prove her involvement.
According to LTTE statistics,over 1000 child combatants of the LTTE 'Baby Brigade' have committed suicide when they were surrounded by troops during battles with Sri Lankan troops.
Adele Balasingham during all her visits to the North with her late husband had supervised and promoted the Tamil children to the culture to commit suicide by swallowing the cyanide capsule when child combatants were trapped in battle.
The petition charge that Adele was directly responsible for over 1000 child deaths in Sri Lanka and have urged British authorities to prosecute her. A copy of the petition is to be sent to the United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the UN Commission on Human Rights, reports from London added.
