National War Heroes Commemoration Month Declared

Ranaviru (War Hero) Flag pinned onto His Excellency the President at the launching of this year's War Heroes Commemoration Month ceremonially today (08th May) at Temple Trees.

Secretary Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa was also participated at the ceremony.

Since now, a period of month up to 08th June 2013 has been declared as the National War Heroes Commemoration month.

A series of events have been scheduled to be held to coincide with the War Hero Commemoration including the Victory Parade at Galle Face Green and the special Commemoration Ceremony at War Heroes Memorial at Sri Jayewardenapura Kotte on 18th May.

A plaque engraved "Ranaviru Abhiman Uphara" was also presented to the president by the Chairperson of the Ranaviru Seva Authority Mrs. Padma Weththewa to mark the occasion.

Hon. Prime Minister, Government Ministers, Members of Parliament, Governors, Chief of the Defence Staff, Tri-Forces Commanders including Inspector General of Police and a large gathering of distinguish personnel were present at the event.
