19 Former LTTE Combatants Given Loans for Self-employment

A brief ceremony for award of interest-free loans to some 19 rehabilitated former combatants, enabling them to commence their own self-employment projects, took place on Saturday (30) at 62 Division Headquarters in Vavuniya.

Each rehabilitee under this loan scheme, initiated with sponsorship, provided by Mr Chutta Ratnasingham of Canada-based ‘Namasthe’ organization received an interest-free loan of Rs 50,000/= each during the occasion. Presidential Task Force, Colombo Rotary Club and Bank of Ceylon have coordinated the project that would help find self-employment for those former combatants.

Colombo Rotary Club officials, Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W), 62 Division General Officer Commanding, 622 Brigade Commander and a large gathering of officers were present during the brief ceremony.

Those 19 former combatants together with their family members attended the award ceremony.
