"Let's continue the good work with renewed vigor" says Secretary Defence
"We were able to be a major drive in the great triumph: ending a three decade prolonged conflict. Now it is time to step-into the development drive of the nation", said Secretary Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Addressing staff members of the Ministry of Defence this morning (03rd Jan), Secretary Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa emphasized, new responsibilities lies with the Ministry-referring to the added institutions: Emigration and Immigration, Urban Development Authority, Registration of Personal, Land Reclamation etc.
The event was organized coinciding with the traditional taking of oath by government servants at the beginning of the New Year.
He requested all staff members to continue the good work with renewed vigor to be an exemplary institute. Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa also stressed the welfare of war heroes and their families as a prime responsibility.
Secretary Defence finally said that, all should get together and work hard to achieve the new goals and objectives of the institution as proven before. "I wish you all a prosperous new year" he concluded.
MOD Seva Vanitha Unit Chairperson Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa, Additional Secretary Defence Mr. R.M.S Rathnayake, Military Liaison Officer General (Retired) Palitha Fernando , Director General of the Media Centre for National Security Lauxman Hulugalle and Senior Officials of the Ministry of Defence were also present at the occasion.
