Northern Province 100 schools to be refurbished
The Government has taken steps to refurbish 100 schools damaged by the LTTE terrorists during the recent war period. A sum of Rs 141 Million is being funded by the Nippon Foundation in Japan and Seva Lanka foundation, for the project.
Shuichi Ono of the Nippon Foundation and S.Illangakoon, Secretary of the Ministry of Education in the Northern Province, signed the agreement for the project at the Presidential Secretariat.
The Government has already planned to bring the education level of the Northern Province to a higher position by developing the standards of students and improving infrastructure facilities of the schools. Most of the schools which were damaged or destroyed during the recent war period have now been renovated or re-established.
