Lankan govt. releases latest response to C-4News March 19, 2012 2:31 pm (Srilankamirror) – The Sri Lankan government, through the Defence Ministry, today (Mar. 19) released its official response to Channel Four’s latest “Killing Fields” documentary.In the response, the government interviews civilians and former LTTE members on the atrocities committed by the LTTE.“Shadows of Terror: Response to Channel 4” contains much of the footage from the previous government response.Additionally, it has two major incidents which occurred during the final stages of the war.The documentary features Fr. James Paththinara, a resident priest of the St. Mary’s Church in Valayanmadam who speaks about how the LTTE forcibly recruited children who were hiding in the church during the final stages of the war.He also speaks about how the church was shelled by the LTTE after its priests refused to take orders from the terrorist outfit.The documentary also features several forcibly recruited ex-child soldiers who speak of their run-ins with the LTTE.Civilians and ex-LTTE cadres also talk about an incident in which injured LTTE soldiers were executed in a bus during the final stages of the war.The new documentary is due to be screened today for members attending the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva.The Sri Lankan delegation in Geneva also plans to present another video documentary titled Sri Lanka; the Emerging Wonder – conflict, peace and prosperity for the benefit of UNHRC members.
