More assistance for resettled people
Continuing their humanitarian initiatives to uplift the
livelihood of the resettled people of the North, security forces in Jaffna
donated a consignment of fishing nets to the fishing community at Senthankulam
in Naguleshvaram recently.
The fishing apparatus each valued at Rs. 35,000.00 were
distributed among seventeen fisher families in the village. The nets were
sponsored by 'Friends', a Non Governmental Organization functioning in the
North.
In another event the students of Ramanathapuram Maha Vidyalaya
in Kilinochchi were gifted with computers by security forces in Kilinochchi
recently. The initiative to upgrade the computer unit of the school was taken
with a view to enhance the Information Technology knowledge of the children in
the region.
Under the present education policy much emphasis is paid to the
promotion of Information Communication Technology in schools around the Island.
Recognizing the need for computers security forces authorities made available
these valuable computers to the school. The computers were handed over to school
at a function organized by school authorities.
