Tamil woman soldiers visit Presidential Secretariat
A gathering of the initial batch of Tamil woman soldiers and
university undergrads and students was held at the Presidential Secretariat
today morning (11th January 2013).
The Tamil woman soldiers are now in Colombo during their trip to
the South.
Presidential Senior Assistant Secretary Mr. CN Withanachchi
participating as the chief guest ceremonially declared open the day's proceeding
by lighting the traditional oil lamp together with a Tamil woman soldier and
other distinguished invitees.
The gathering and the visit had been organized under the
patronage of His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa under the direct
supervision of the Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya
Rajapaksa. The focal intention of the interaction between university students
with the Tamil woman soldiers under the 'Sisu Diriya National Programme' is
aimed at enhancing knowledge and building better virtues. A Tamil woman solider
and a university student delivered speeches expressing their views and gratitude
for organizing such interactive session which will greatly help to build better
understanding and friendship among the people of all ethnicities.
This programme opens a new arena for them to develop their
skills on positive thinking, team building, enhance knowledge with mutual
discussions, improve aesthetic skills, develop leadership talents, speak to the
world through media and build continues connectivity with the outside world. A
lecture on leadership qualities development was also conducted at the end of the
session.
Presidential Additional Secretary Mr. Ranjith Wijethilaka,
Director (Presidential Social Development) Mr. Nandana Wijesinghe, Brigadier M
Mudannayaka, officials of the Presidential Secretariat, senior security forces
officials and university officials were present at the occasion.
