The film "Gamani" which depicted the self confidence and the strength of the innocent rural citizens, who safeguarded their villages from the threats of the brutal LTTE terrorists, was ceremonially screened with the patronage of Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense at the Tharangani Cinema Hall yesterday (04).

Brutal assassination of 57 innocent civilians by the barbaric LTTE terrorists in the Gonagala area in Ampara is the theme of the maiden film "Gamani" directed by Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara where several renowned actors have given their contribution. The huge involvement made by the members of Civil Defense Force to protect the lives of people in the threatened villages is vividly shown in this film.


Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara being a Senior Officer with experiences over 35 years in the Sri Lanka Navy was the pioneer of establishing the Civil Defense Force under the guidance of Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense. Further, Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara was the first Director General of the Civil Defense Force who sacrificed his valuable service for the progress during the past three and half years. At present he serves the nation as a member of parliament representing the Digamadulla area.


The film "Gamani" which has been ready to be screened in the near future will be a counter attack to the various non governmental organizations and their followers who wish to tarnish the image of our motherland.


Hon. Keheliya Rambukwella the Minister of Media and Communication, Mr. Lakshman Hulugalle, the Director General of the Media Centre for National Security, the Commanders and the Senior Officers of the tri forces, several renowned Artists and journalists also participated in this occasion.
