Brotherhood with Muslim community remains unshaken - President
All those who love Sri Lanka are its children and it is my only wish that everyone has equal rights and enjoys dignity, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing a gathering of the Muslim community at Environment Deputy Minister Abdul Cader’s residence in Kandy yesterday.
The President also noted that although there are some evil forces who attempt to rouse ill-feeling between communities, brotherhood and friendship with the Muslim community remains unshaken.
The President also stressed the significance of giving priority to one’s intelligence rather than making decisions based on feelings and emotions.
President Rajapaksa stated that a Muslim Education Unit had been commenced in the Central Province to enhance educational opportunities for the younger generation and requested the people to have faith in the government. A large gathering of Kandy District UPFA activists was also present on the occasion.
