Chaminda PERERA
The UK government yesterday said that it wanted to be informed of LTTE activities taking place on UK soil if there be evidence.
According to UK High Commissioner in Colombo John Rankin, any terrorist action in the UK had been criminalized since 2001.
He made this statement while Participating in the second vedio series "Ask the High Commissioner".
When questioned about possible legal action against the alleged LTTE terrorists who are supposed to live in the UK. Rankin said that LTTE was a proscribed organization in the UK and across the European Union as a whole. Any action in support of the LTTE in the UK has been criminalized since 2001. As we have made it clear in our engagement with the Sri Lankan Government here that should there be evidence of LTTE activities taking place in the UK, we want it to be reported to us", Rankin added.
The High Commissioner said that the UK Government will take such cases very seriously and pass them on to the Police and Crown Prosecution Service for investigation and prosecution.
