LTTE rump in Europe marking a bloody trail

The LTTE rump operatives in France that once enriched themselves and became powerful by extorting money from Sri Lankan Tamils living in France have now split into groups and are at one another’s throats, The Nation learns from Sri Lankan sources in Paris. In a recent case, a dispute arose about commemorating the Mahavir day and Nadaraja Mahendiran alias Neekan, a once powerful cadre in France LTTE outfit, was attacked with swords by his rivals. He was admitted to hospital with critical injuries and undergone an immediate surgery. He was gradually recovering, the sources said.
Tamil terrorist supporters had become a nuisance to the French authorities following a number of violent incidents amongst about 100 LTTE terrorists who had fled to France at the final stage of the war. They were the ones playing the leading roles in the so-called Mahavir commemoration event, they said. the LTTE rump was trying to wash their hands off the matter by spreading an untrue story that Mahendiran alias Neekan was attacked by persons acting on the behest of the Sri Lanka’s government. However, the victim has made a statement to the French police the attackers were identified LTTE members. French authorities were investigating into Neekan’s statement.Violence due to rivalries among various factions and fronts of the LTTE overseas cadres and agents had been going on in France since 1994 including the assassinations of its cadres Sahalingam, Kandiah Nathan and the journalist, our sources said.
