Troops serving in 552 Brigade in Iyakkachchi, facilitated a large number of civilians in the area during a medical clinic, held recently.

During the clinic patients got the opportunity to go through free medical checkups and receive medicine for their illnesses. The clinic was organized by the Civil Affairs Office of 552 Brigade and held at the Iyakkachchi Government Tamil Mixed School. Around 900 civilians including women and children were treated at the medical clinic.

The medical panel comprised of 30 members including specialist doctors, medical laboratory technicians and ECG technicians from Colombo. Residents from remote villages had the opportunity to obtain ECG reports, blood and other checkups done by doctors and medical technicians from the privet sector.

Army facilitated the event providing transport and other facilities for those who came for treatment from faraway places.

The majority of the beneficiaries were very needy people who couldn't afford to travel or spend for such treatment. The benefited people praised the troops for their commitment and care in carrying out this social endeavor.
