Mannar District Sports Festival Held
Scores of young sportsmen and women in the Mannar District actively took part in the recent 2011 Mannar District Sports Festival, organized by the Provincial Director of Education at Periyapandivirichchan public grounds, Mannar.
Closely contested young students from many schools in the district showed their skills and talents in relay running, hurdle running and several other events against their fellow-schoolmates in the district. Brigadier A. Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division attended the final stage of the sports festival as one of the Chief Guests.
District Secretary for Mannar, Provincial Director of Health Services for Northern Province, Provincial Director of Sports, Zone Director of Education for Mannar, 613 Brigade Commander, 28 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Officer Commanding and a section of teachers and civilians attended the event.
Trophies and certificates were distributed among winners towards the end of the day's programme.
