President to visit Northern Province today

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to visit the Jaffna peninsula and the former rebel stronghold Kilinochchi in the Northern Province today. During the three year period since end of the war, the Jaffna district has witnessed tremendous development and the education levels have also been upgraded immensely. The government has undertaken these development projects with the aim of bringing investment to the North.

The President will declare open the new two-story building of Kopai School, Pooneryn Hospital and will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the Kilinochchi Trade Center. Construction work to build an international level sports complex in Kilinochchi at a cost of Rs. 360 million is also expected to be launched by the President..

The President is also scheduled to address few public rallies to boost the ruling party campaign for Local Government Elections.
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and a number of other Ministers are also scheduled to participate in the events .
