Only 38, 127 IDPs remaining
The total number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) remaining in welfare centres in the North as of Yesterday (14 July 2010) has reduced to 38, 127 according to Colonel Wadugodapitiya, Chief Coordinating Officer of the Competent Office for IDPs in Vavuniya.
IDP zones have also reduced with only four such zones in the Menik Farm relief village due to the speedy re-settlement, the Chief Coordinating Officer further said.
The Government will resettle another 3000 IDPs in Kiranchchi, Kilinochchi by 26th of this month (July). Accordingly, three groups will be resettled on 18, 22 and 26 of July.
