Disabled war heroes receive Three Wheelers from Commander in Chief
www.defence.lk">Understanding the difficulties faced by the disabled war heroes, who risked life and limb to eliminate the terrorism from the motherland provided with Three Wheelers today, (24 Nov).
In a special function organized by the Ranaviru Seva Authority at the premises of the Ministry of Defence, the Commander in Chief, His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa together with Secretary Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, tri forces commanders and IGP distributed 100 Three Wheelers among the war heroes of Army Navy Air Force and the Police.
So far, Secretary Defence has initiated numerous projects to ease off the burning issues faced by the war heroes specially the disabled war veterans.
This project too, was the brainchild of the Secretary Defence and he has given necessary guidance to the Ranaviru Seva Authority to carry out projects similar in this nature to ease off the burning issues like transportation difficulties faced by the disabled.
So far, 700 Three Wheelers have been provided among the disabled war heroes to make their day today activities much easier. "These Three wheelers have modified to suit with their different abilities and much more convenient for them to drive than a regular Three Wheeler" Mrs. Padma Wettewa said speaking to defence.lk. The project was initiated by the Ranaviru Seva Authority in year 2007, providing 200 Three Wheelers in each year to the disabled war heroes.
Chief of Defence staff and Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonathilaka, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasooriya, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe and Chairperson of the Ranaviru Seva Authority, Mrs. Padma Wettewa also participated in the event.
