The epochal service rendered by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in steering the country towards the path to development and progress after liberating it from the fearful threats posed to its moral, cultural, economic and political well-being will be remembered forever with gratitude by the future generations said Most Ven Udugama Sri Buddharakkhita Mahanayake Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter in a statement issued yesterday.
The Prelate said on the occasion of the President’s swearing in for his second term the common expectation and aspiration of all including the Maha Sangha was that he would work to build a prosperous nation where all Sri Lankans could lead happy and peaceful lives.
The Prelate added that the President is a man of epoch who had ushered in lasting peace after eradicating the menace of terrorism and enhancing Sri Lanka’s image abroad.
