Sri Lanka still faces challenges from outside – Govt. Spokesman

Sri Lanka is yet to overcome the international challenges though it has successfully over come the challenges faced locally by crushing the LTTE militarily said Government Spokesman Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
The Minister speaking to his ministerial staff after being re-appointed as the media minister said that the staff of the media ministry should be vigilant about what is occurring in the national and international arena thereby to take prompt action against such elements.President Mahinda Rajapaksa gave the leadership to defeat the three decade old terrorism and within a short period of time due to his dedication and able leadership the nation today enjoy a true freedom. That is tangible by every one and that is why the people of this country call it the dawn of second freedom to the country where all live in harmony now.“But, though we have eliminated the challenges faced locally the challenges from the international elements have not yet decreased. The envying international elements do not like the dawn of peace in this small country.” Said the ministerMr. Rambukwella citing examples of international attempts to revive the LTTE said that the LTTE has established a Transnational Eelam in the United States. France has given the green light to erect a statue of a Tiger leader Tamilchelvam there. Is this the outcome of the five star democracy preached by those countries queried the minister.Pointing out the importance of Media in creating vigilance among the nation the minister said that he himself experienced the importance of Media when he played the role of Defence spokesman since 2006 during the time of the war with the LTTE.He said that in this region Sri Lankan media could play a pivotal role not only to enlighten the nation about the challenges that are coming from the international elements but also to expose surreptitious works of the international elements.
