United States lauds Sri Lanka for rehabilitating child soldiers

The Minister of Rehabilitation and Prisons Developments Mr. D.E.W.Gunasekera informs that all tiger cadres surrendered during the final stages of the humanitarian operation have been freed after rehabilitation.
He said that only eight leading cadres are kept in custody until the on-going investigations and legal procedures relating to them are completed.
Meanwhile, a report issued by the White House, in the United States, has praised Sri Lanka for the measures taken to rehabilitate the former child solders of the terrorist outfit, LTTE. This commendation has been made in a report it has issued warning Congo, Sudan, Chad and Yemen to take immediate measures to eliminate terrorism, pointing out that terrorism in these countries are a threat to the United States and recruitment of children as child combatants deprive these children of their child rights.Courtesy:news.lk
