France helps Trinco development

The reconstruction of 98 km A15 road from Thirukkodiyamadu to Trincomalee, 41 km B10 road from Allai to Kantale and 11.9 km c-class road from Mawadichenai to Ganesapuram are currently being undertaken with French assistance.
They are part of the Trincomalee Integrated Infrastructure Project funded by the French Development Agency (AFD).
The project started in 2005 as part of the post-tsunami reconstruction effort also include the construction of five buildings at Kayankerni (85 m), Verugal (105 m), Ralkuli (175 m), Gangei (245 m) and Upparu (315 m).
The total financial aid given by the AFD amounts to a soft loan of Euro 79 million.
In the framework of the same project, the AFD also funds schemes to improve drinking water supply and electricity distribution in the Trincomalee district and assist improvement of living condition of the people through schools, libraries, medical centres etc.
