Spanish Prime Minister, Jose Luis Zapatero, told President Mahinda Rajapaksa that both the United Nations and the international community should look to help Sri Lanka, when the two leaders met yesterday (June 18), according to presidential media sources.
The President's Media Director General, Bandula Jayasekera, said Prime Minister Zapatero had expressed these views after he was briefed by President Rajapaksa on the reconciliation, resettlement and economic development projects that are currently underway in Sri Lanka.
The meeting took place at St.Petersburg in Russia, where President Rajapaksa is currently on visit. His trip there was on the invitation of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who called President Rajapaksa to participate in the St.Petersburg International Economic Forum.
