Military leaders acclaim SL experience in defeating terrorism

With the end of the three-day seminar 'Defeating Terrorism: The Sri Lankan Experience' this noon, the attendees from different parts of the world were full of praise for the Sri Lankan Government's successful venture against terrorism.
"This is a lovely opportunity for all of us to learn from Sri Lanka. There were many aspects of terrorism that were discussed. Beyond any doubt, this is a good learning experience for the whole South Asia", said Brigadier Umair from Pakistan.
"This initiate is worth admiring because it has all the positives. The Sri Lankan experience is a case study which reiterates the fact that no army can act in isolation. Because of the perfect harmony between the Government and the armed forces, and because the Sri Lankan nation stood by the armed forces, victory was possible", the Pakistani military official further added.
Similar views were expressed by other attendees. "This is a great job by the Sri Lankan Government which is talking frankly about their experience", Lieutenant General Abdul Wadud from Bangladesh noted.
"This event is a very successful and memorable and also a very useful event for others countries. Sri Lanka's lead in defeating terrorism is a good lesson for all. Meanwhile the interaction with Sri Lanka's senior military officers at the seminar as well as outside the seminar is very interesting', said Ahmed Nijam, Maldives Brigadier General.
All of those who voiced their views were highly positive about the post-war development programmes undertaken by the Government. They were of common consensus that Sri Lanka has a bright future, and a lot of potential with the dawn of an era devoid of terrorism.
The three-day international seminar was attended by a host of foreign delegates including military officials, military strategist, political analysts and economists representing 41 counties.
