Last year pro terrorist websites claimed the alleged dead body of Issipriya as the dead body of Prabakaran’s daughter Dwaraka.
It has now been confirmed that Issipriya the woman who is alleged to have been the news presenter in the Channel 4 documentary doctored to tarnish the image of Sri Lanka and demonize the Sri Lankan Army was a hardcore LTTE combatant. The Defence Ministry has released a photograph of the identity card issued by the LTTE to Issipriya, clad in combat attire, which confirms her military involvement with the LTTE. Issipriya born in 1982 in Jaffna had been recruited by the LTTE and had undergone military training in the Vanni.
She has served in the LTTE Military Wing and subsequently joined the Voice of Tigers (VoT), the official radio station of the LTTE. A report submitted to UNESCO by the government following the bombing of VoT by the Sri Lanka Air Force in 2007 made it clear that VoT was the official propaganda radio station of the LTTE.
The LTTE has given the rank of ‘Lt Col’ to Issipriya in recognition of her contribution to the LTTE. She has married Sea Tiger cadre Sri Ram who died in the final battle in May 2009. Sri Ram was the former LTTE Senior Sea Tiger leader in Trincomalee and took part in most of the operations launched by the LTTE against the Sri Lanka Navy and Merchant Vessels.Channel 4 itself notes that Issipriya inspired and glorified Black Tiger cadres who carried out suicide missions, making it clear that she played a key role in persuading youngsters to undertake suicide missions, a role that is worse than that of the misguided youngsters who are led to sacrifice themselves.
Channel 4, ignoring evidence of her active involvement in terrorist activities and driving youngsters to this, whitewashes her by claiming that she was just a journalist and not engaged in combat operations due to her health conditions.
Long before Channel 4 allegation about Issipriya, the Website “Tamil Daily News” on 12 December 2010, posted a news item in which it called for “Justice for Issipriya” stating that “It is suspected Isaippriya may have been gang raped before she was shot dead”, and described “Isaippriya an intelligent, multi-talented beauty with an angelic voice, the darling of her television audience”
A fitting response to this article was given by one reader on the same day 12 December 2010 and his comments said that “These LTTE supporters turn everything to their convenience time to time. The best example is the recent news item where Channel 4 and its LTTE propoganda crew try to prove the female dead body is of IssiPriya. But a few months before, same LTTE groups operating freely in the UK despites its prohibition as a terrorist group identified the dead body was of Prabakaran’s daughter, Dwarka.” The person who has made the comment also requested “Please read the following propaganda news entitled “National Leader Prabakaran’s Daughter Dwaraka’s photos released – Most Shocking by admin on Dec.16, 2009, under Tamil Eelam.” and the website is http://www.uktamilnews.com/?p=9040” However this link cannot be activated now.
