Sri Lankan Workers Association of Malaysia makes a donation for "Api Wenuwen Api" housing fund
Sri Lankan Workers Association of Malaysia made a donation worth of 469,520.50 Malaysian Ringgit (nearly 17Million Srilankan rupees) for the "Api Wenuwen Api" housing project and rehabilitation programs underway for ex-LTTE combatants this morning, 14th June.
The donation was officially handed over to Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa by president of the Sri Lankan Workers Association of Malaysia Mr Mahinda Thammitage in a function held at the defence ministry premises.
An official of the Sri Lankan Workers Association of Malaysia speaking to defence.lk said that the funds were raised organizing a mega musical event in Malaysia.
Further speaking he said that 10 Million rupees were to be allocated for the "Api Wenuwen Api" housing project whiles the remaining 7 Million rupees to be allocated for the rehabilitation programs underway for ex-LTTE combatants.
Representing the Sri Lankan Workers Association of Malaysia Dr Chanaka Rajapaksa, Mr Don Mahinda Jayasooriya, Mr Niran Senevirathna, Mr Yohan Goonathilake, Sri Lankan Deputy High Commissioner of Malaysia Major General Udaya Perera RSP USP MSc NDU-CT(USA) psc(SL) psc(IND) and Security Forces Commander (South) Major General Lalith Daulagala RSP USP ndc also participated at the occasion.
