More than 100 dependent war heroes are comfortably accommodated for lifelong care and nurture these welfare facilities. All facilities are provided free of charge to ensure the well-being, rehabilitation, rest and recreation of the brave souls who had sacrificed much during the fight wipe out the scourge of terrorism from the shores of the motherland.

In order to extend the services of the Abimansala to the disabled war heroes of the South, under the direction of Secretary Defence the Sri Lanka Army began constructing Abimansala 2 at Wilpitawatta, Kamburupitiya in the Southern Province in January. The project is funded by the 'Brave Hearts' fund of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Sri Lanka Army.

The construction was undertaken by the Army Engineers and Engineer Service Regiment with the co-operation of both government and private sector. Recently a large number of civilians from the surrounding areas volunteered to contribute their effort in this worthy cause. A large number of these grateful civilians gathered for a shramadana to clean the entire welfare resort premises.

During the visit Secretary Defence went around the Abimansala premises and inspected its facilities including the accommodation and medical units. He gave necessary directions for the authorities and also commended the work completed.
