Rehabilitated ex-combatants to be released
To mark the 2600 Sambuddhatva Jayanthi a large numbers of former LTTE cadres who were put through rehabilitation programmes will be reintegrated into the society next month, said the Rehabilitation Commissioner General Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe recently.
Further he said that the date and number of persons that are to be released have not yet been decided by the authorities and at present speedy training programmes are being done for them. Especially, these training programmes are based on the areas where they would be able to start self employment, he added.
According to Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe all those who will be reintegrated to the society are married and have children too.
More than 6,500 LTTE cadres out of 11,000 who surrendered to the armed forces at the end of the war have been reintegrated to the society so far.
