'Security Forces can make a difference'

'Sri Lanka's three security forces and the Police are the only team in the world who can make a different in the world's history. They showed this by defeating terrorism in Sri Lanka,said Higher Education Minister S B Dissanayake addressing the inauguration ceremony of the instructors' training programme which was held at the Panagoda Army Headquarters.
'Countries such as Russia and India failed to defeat terrorism within their countries unlike Sri Lanka he added.
"LTTE was the most powerful terrorist group in the world. They had a suicide force, child combatonts with international influence.
'With the guidance of our President and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and the strength of our three forces and Police, we have defeated terrorism in Sri Lanka successfully," the minister said.
'As university students are the future of Sri Lanka the Higher Education Ministry had made all arrangements to provide them leadership training by the forces.
'These students who do not have much experience in their lives need additional skills to meet challenges, the minister said.
"I believe that the three forces and the Police will treat these students well.
'They will have an enjoyable period and a good training," he added.
Higher Education Ministry Secretary Sunil Jayantha Nawaratne, Defence Ministry Additional Secretary R M S Ratnayake, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Vice Chancellor Major General Milinda Peiris, Assistant Vice Chancellor Brigadier A L D M Gunasekara, Medical Faculty Dean Prof Sujeewa Amarasena and Defence Faculty Dean Lieutenant Colonel H M U Herath also participated.
