66th in the world

The Newsweek magazine has ranked Sri Lanka the 66th best country in the world to offer a healthy and prosperous life to its citizens. Sri Lanka now holds the foremost place in South Asia with India, Bangladesh and Pakistan ranking below.
Out of the 100 countries listed, Newsweek ranks India at 78th place while Bangladesh at 88th and Pakistan 89th.
Finland has been ranked the best country in the world with Sweden and Switzerland falling to 2nd and 3rd places. USA ranks 11 and Germany 12.
In the sub categories Germany leads the list of the countries with the best quality of life while Japan has earned the slot for the country with the best healthcare system. Singapore is the country with the best economic dynamism according to the survey published in the latest Newsweek issue.
The best 100 countries have been listed according to the criteria set in education, health, quality of life, economic dynamism and political environment.
With the end to terrorism, the government of Sri Lanka has accelerated development throughout the country in all sectors ensuring better quality of life to its citizens. With peace restored and security improved, many western nations including USA and UK have lifted travel restrictions to Sri Lanka. Records show tourist arrivals increasing each month while investments continue to flow in.
