More military items uncovered in clearing operations
Sri Lanka Army troops and De-mining groups continued clearing and de-mining operations have uncovered more LTTE military hardware hidden in Vavuniya,Mannar and Kilinochchi districts yesterday (12 August), military sources said.
Troops of 56 Division, while conducting a search and clear operation in general area Sinna -Adampan in Vavuniya district recovered 01 x 40mm grenade bomb and 01 x Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bomb. Same troops recovered 74 x Anti Personnel (AP) mines (Type P 4 - Mark 1) during de-mining operations conducted at general area Mahilankulam.
Following military items were recovered by 56 division troops during clearing operations conducted at general areas Piramanalankulum, Mallawarayankaddaiadampan, Irranaiilluppaikulam, Palampiddi, Parasankulam, Keerisuddan and Omanthai.

Separately, at general area Kollankulam in Mannar, troops recovered 06 x Anti Personnel (AP) mines and at general area Nedunkandal troops uncovered 52 x Anti Personnel (AP) mines and an unexploded ordinance (UXO) during de-mining operations conducted yesterday (12 August).
Meanwhile, Task force 3 (TF-3) have recovered 01 x 60mm mortar bomb during a clearing operation conducted at general area Olumadu and same troops recovered 02 x Hand grenades, 01 x Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bomb and 02 x Anti Personnel (AP) mines (Type Rangan-99) at general area Akkarayankulam in Kilinochchi district.
Clearing operations are being continued.
