More military items uncovered in clearing operations
Sri Lanka Army troops and de-mining groups continued clearing and de-mining operations have uncovered more LTTE military hardware hidden in Vavuniya and Kilinochchi districts yesterday (01 August), military sources said.
Troops of 56 Division, while conducting a search and clear operation in general area Mahilankulam in Vavuniya district recovered 13 x Anti Personnel (AP) mines (Type P 4 MK I). In general area Omanthai, troops of 8th Field Engineers uncovered following military items.

Separately, troops in Vavuniya district found 09 x Anti personnel (AP) mines (Type P 4 MK I) and 09 x Anti Personnel mine fuses (Type P 4 MK I) during a clearing operation conducted at Parsankulam area.
Further, troops belong to 61 division recovered 03 x 60 mm Mortar bombs during a clearing operation conducted at Palampiddi area in Vavuniya district.
Meanwhile, following military items were uncovered by the Task Force 3 (TF-3) troops during a clearing operation conducted at Mankulam area in Kilinochchi district on same day, sources further added.
