Former LTTE Women's Wing leader a bridesmaid in a wedding


The former female political wing leader of LTTE Subramaniam Sivathai alias Thamalini recently became a bridesmaid of a wedding of another former LTTE female cadre.

The wedding ceremony was held in the Vavuniya welfare camp where Thamalini is undergoing a rehabilitation programme conducted by the Sri Lankan military.

Thamilini, a resident of Kilinochchi joined LTTE in 1991 and became the head of LTTE Women's Wing. She was arrested by Lankan army in May 2009 at an Army welfare center for refugees and taken to Colombo for investigations.

She was charged with training LTTE cadres and establishing connections with LTTE members overseas.

After being detained at the Welikada prison for many months she was transferred to the Vavuniya Rehabilitation center to undergo a rehabilitation programme in order to re-integrate her into the society.

According to the rehabilitation officials, Thamalini is receiving vocational training at the camp and has followed a training course in bridal dressing.
