President tells people of Jaffna:
Leave no room for re-emergence of terrorism

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said all countrymen have a responsibility to ensure no room is left for the re-emergence of terrorism which brought suffering to the people of all communities for over three decades.
He said that he was well aware of the misery faced by the people due to terrorism and insisted that they all should keep in mind that the country has only one government.
Speaking at the Jaffna District Special Development Committee meeting at Tilco City Hotel in Jaffna yesterday, President Rajapaksa said that the Northern railway line which was devastated by the terrorists would be reconstructed up to Kankesanthurai and the construction will be completed by March next year.
President Rajapaksa reviewed the development activities taking place in the Jaffna district and the officials were directed to complete the work of the on going projects.
It was revealed at the development committee meeting that the reconstruction of the A 9 highway was being carried out rapidly and the entire Jaffna district has seen massive development in the social, health, power and energy, agriculture sectors with the end to the 30 years conflict.
Speaking in Tamil, the President said that he is more happy when the people are content.
The President was of the view that the government servants should discharge an efficient service to the public. President Rajapaksa stressed the importance of developing the rural villages in the district.
He opined that the dividends of development should reach the under priviledged areas in the district too.
The development of Jaffna should not be centred on the city of Jaffna. The development should be brought to the rural areas of the district too, he said.
