Army's initiative for a healthy generation


The Northern region is witnessing a tremendous revival since the end of conflict. The people of the North are reaping the dividends of peace after more than three decades of misery caused by terrorism. Under the government's reconciliation programme the security forces have been entrusted with another humanitarian mission to assist the civilians to resume their normal lifestyles.

The security forces have initiated a number of programmes to ensure the welfare of the people. Special health care programmes for children are conducted regularly at schools.

Dental Clinic for Nelliady Students


Security Forces organized a mobile dental clinic for the children in Nelliady area on 12th February.

More than 175 children who attended the dental clinic received treatment from qualified medical personnel. A special session on dental and oral hygiene was also held during medical camp. Those who needed special treatment were referred to dental clinics in Manthikai and Karaveddy.

The event was coordinated by the 521 Brigade together with the office of Regional Director of Health Services.

Medical awareness programme for Vavuniya students


Children of the Eerattaperiakulam Perakum Vidyalaya and Saiva Prakash Ladies' School at Vavuniya were educated on pre-medical care and first-aid during a three-day work shop held recently.

More than 165 students from both schools took part in the workshop. The attending children were made aware on proper pre-medical methods and procedures to be taken in case of medical emergencies.

Medical assistance for the Helambawewa villagers


People at Helambawewa village in the Janakapura Grama Niladhari Division received medicine and drugs during a mobile medical clinic conducted by the 'Success' - Colombo.

A seven-member medical team, headed by Dr Mrs. Anula Wijesundara examined and dispersed required drugs. In addition exercise books were also distributed among the children by the team.

The event was coordinated by 62 Division and 622 Brigade Headquarters in Mullaittivu District.
