Troops to supports animal husbandry
Continuing the livelihood supportive measures launched by the
Army for northern mass, the 511 Brigade at Atchelu donated six cows for families
in Brigade area recently.
Cows destined to be slaughtered were taken by Security Forces -
Jaffna (SF-J) for this charity drive.
In parallel to the livelihood improvement programme initiated by
the Commander SF-J Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, the arrangements were
made to transport cows up to Atchelu. A qualified veterinary surgeon inspected
the cows prior to handing over.
Meanwhile, troops of 55 Division extending their supportive
hands to the newly resettled civilians in Kevil, 52 goats were distributed among
20 families.
Soldiers of the 2nd Sri Lanka Light Infantry (2 SLLI) serving in
Chundikulam made all the arrangements to distribute animals among low-income
families with the assistance of Grama Niladharie.
Conferences with religious dignitaries (East)
Commander, Security Forces (East) Major General Lal Perera
chaired a meeting with regional religious dignitaries recently at
Akkaraipaththu.
The conference was organized with the ambition of peace
building, spiritual improvement and successful reconciliation among divers
population in Ampara district. Ven. Ananda thero, Catholic, Islamic and Hindu
priests were participated at the meeting. Henceforth the Multi religious meeting
will convene monthly. Simultaneously, Major General Lal Perera conducted another
meeting with Baticoloa religious heads too.
House for Rizana Nafeek's family
Placing the foundation stone, the troops of 22 division
inaugurated building a house for Rizana's family recently.
The event was organized in collaboration with well-wishers with
a view of donating a house for the innocent helpless family. The construction
work will be carried out by the troops of 15 SLLI and 5 (V) SLA.
