Australian Delegation visits Kilinochchi

Australian delegation on a visit to Kilinochchi arrived at Security Forces Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) recently. During the visit, delegation met the Commander of SFHQ-Mullaithivu Major General L.B.R. Mark and other senior military officials.
Major General Mark led the occasion, on behalf of Commander SFHQ-KLN Major General Udaya Perera at Kilinochchi.
The delegation comprised Mrs Julie Bishop, Deputy Opposition Leader and shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and her parliamentary colleagues.
At the meeting the delegation was appraised of the present situation of the region and army's involvement in the post war development process. Responding to the questions raised by the delegations, Major General Mark elaborated on welfare initiatives that are in place to assist the masses. Further speaking, he presented them with a detailed account of different roles and tasks, currently being pursued by Kilinochchi troops for the betterment of civilians in the province. Meanwhile, delegation was also enlightened on the army's role in demining, rehabilitation, peace building and other development work
The government's efforts in the post war development process came under praise by the delegation.
Mementoes were also exchanged to mark the visit.
