CCTV Cameras to monitor Colombo city
The department of Police has installed 108 Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) to monitor activities in Colombo city in view of strengthening the national security, said Police Media Spokesman SSP Prashantha Jayakody.
These CCTV cameras have been installed at vantage points in the city fort the purpose, he added.
It is a national requirement and the Ministry of Defence has given necessary directives to carry on with the project.
"The CCTV cameras would assist to curtail traffic offences, crime, crowd control and all nefarious activities taking place in the Colombo city once they are activated shortly", he said.
