Sri Lanka on the fast track to development - Indian High Commissioner
Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Ashok Kantha said that Sri Lanka is on the fast track to development and gain economic growth especially to achieve Millennium Development Goals.
Addressing the 23rd Annual Session of the Organization of Professional Associations held in Colombo, he further stated that Sri Lanka is better poised to achieve development goals than India and time has arisen for Sri Lanka to achieve targets since the country is free from terrorism which brought much disaster while hampering development for over three decades.
The Indian diplomat said the country is rapidly marching towards development after peace was restored defeating world's most ruthless terrorist organization and India is assisting Sri Lanka as a friend and immediate neighbor.
UNDP Country Director Douglas Keh who delivered the keynote address stated that it is clear that the country is on the development track. He underlined that infrastructure development programmes and other mega scale development schemes are in progress in every part of the country.
