WFP supports for northern farmers
Sri Lanka will receive international assistance to establish food storage facilities in the Northern region, an official of Agriculture ministry said.
As the Agriculture Ministry sought assistance to help Northern farmers to store seed paddy and fertilizer, World Food Programme agreed for looking at the necessities, a spokesperson for the World Food Programme said speaking to English Daily.
The WFP, Australia, Norway and Switzerland would finance the project, the WFP official further said.
An official of the Agriculture Ministry said that 155 storage facilities would be set up at 31 locations in Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi districts.
