More funds to develop the East - President

President His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the government is prepared to extend maximum funds for the development of the Eastern Province as to enriching the livelihoods of the people who were battered by terrorism for nearly three decades.
Addressing a meeting to review the progress of the Eastern Province, President said 89 Billion Rupees had been spent for the development of the Eastern Province. The meeting was held at the naval base Trincomalee yesterday, 4th October.
Further addressing the meeting President said the government is prepared to allocate more funds to provide electricity to every village in the Eastern Province and he solicited the support of every official at a time when such a vast development was taking place in the region.
During the meeting, necessary on-the-spot instructions were given by the President to address many issues which had been directed by the Eastern fraternity. Further, President instructed the relevant officials to find quick solutions for the housing problems of the people in the Province.
Eastern Province Governor Rear Admiral Mohan Wijayawickrama, Chief Minister Sivaneshathurai Chandrakanthan, Ministers P.A Dayarathne, Vinayagamoorthi Muralidaran, A.L.M Athaulla, Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunga, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Finance Secretary Dr P.B Jayasundara, Government Agents, Provincial and Pradeshiya Sabha members also participated at the Eastern Province development progressive meeting.
