Government making a special effort to reach the Diaspora

Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris said that Sri Lanka has every reason and inducement to her interest to ensure that the peace achieved after two long decades of war become sustainable.
The Minister made this reference when he discussed Sri Lanka's post war moments on the topic "Sri Lanka - the way forward towards sustainable peace" with Dr. Jamie Metzi of the Asia Society in New York.
Further airing his views, the Minister said that the government does not believe that a military victory will provide sustainable peace and it has to be enhanced by other initiatives. He further said that economic dimension is a main element and the government is making a special effort to reach the diaspora, telling them that the government wants them to be engaged in rebuilding those parts of the country which have paid a heavy price during the last 20 years.
