Jaffna Troops Contribute to "Brave Hearts"
In gratitude of sacrifice made by valiant soldiers to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland, soldiers serving in Jaffna contributed their share donating Rs. 2 million to "Brave Hearts", the account opened by Seva Vanitha Army Branch to fund the construction of "Abimansala" (Wellness Resort) for differently able solders in sacred city of Anuradhapura.
The cheque to this effect was presented to Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya by Commander Security Forces - Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe during a brief function organized to celebrate the opening of "Thal Sevana" Holiday Resort at Kankesanthurai on Saturday (02.10.2010) evening.
All officers and other ranks serving under the SF-J voluntarily made their contribution this donation for the welfare of their brother soldiers who became totally disabled during the recent Humanitarian War.
Dependant disabled soldiers who are to find shelter at the Abimansala will be provided with all necessary medical and recreational facilities, a well-equipped gymnasium and subsequently a holiday resort for the inmates to spend a few days with their families whilst undergoing treatment.
All donations to this noble and national mission are credited to the "Brave Hearts" bank account being maintained by the Seva Vanitha Army Branch under the supervision of its President Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya.
