Vasavilan Central College reopened for education

Vasavilan Central College reopened for education
Vasavilan Central College which gave knowledge to thousands of students and to Teacher Trainees at Kopay Teachers' College was reopened, Monday (11 October).
School education of the students in the area crippled with LTTE's forced conscription of children into its cadre.
However, Sri Lankan Security Forces were able to liberate the area including the school premises in September 1990. But as the LTTE had buried a large number of land mines and explosives in the area it was relocated in the Palali High Security Zone. After de-mining groups cleared the area by removing all land mines and explosives the school was handed over to the Education Department on 29 September 2010.
Representing the Commander Security Forces-Jaffna, Commander 515 Brigade Colonel A.G.D.N. Jayasundara attended the ceremonial opening of academic sessions at school.
At present 580 boys and 615 girl are attending the college and the Security Forces HQ- Jaffna hope to repair one complete building for the students in near future. .
