IIFA boosts Sri Lanka globally –Department of Information

(Colombo Lankapuvath June 08-13.50pm) The International Indian Film Academy awards (IIFA) was a great promotion opportunity for Sri Lanka in all means. It was announced on the 23rd of March that the IIFA awards would be held in Sri Lanka and being given a time of two months Sri Lanka prepared for the grand Indian Film awards which was so far held in different parts of the world. Sri Lanka was selected from among many countries such as South Africa, South Korea, and Singapore etc. As a country Sri Lanka was able to reap many benefits through IIFA including development in Tourism, Economy, Business and also in the Sri Lankan Film industry. A message on IIFA awards being held in Sri Lanka displaying beauty and benefits of visiting the beautiful isle in the Indian ocean was telecast every two minutes around the world. The message clearly conveyed that Sri Lanka is now a safe-ground and has a peaceful environment since the defeat of Terrorism last year. The IIFA awards ceremony was promoted in more than 120 countries and by the 11th of June over 600 million people worldwide would view the full IIFA celebrations. This is a most valued opportunity where Sri Lanka received a free boost in over 120 countries free said a communiqué sent by the Department of Information. It also mentioned that if Sri Lanka was to promote the country by herself it would at least have to spend over 4500 crores. Countries step forward to host sports festivals, conferences and other international events as they strengthen the economy and brings in more business opportunities. Meanwhile Sri Lanka has also got the opportunity of hosting the Commonwealth Conference in the year 2013.
