President emphasises on the need for change of attitude among the youth

A future generation which can fulfil the responsibilities of the motherland should be moulded. This has been emphasized by President Rajapaksa. Joining in the “Mother Sri Lanka” programme, the President said the country needed a generation which can win the world with knowledge while caring for the country.
The President said if it is possible to mould the hearts of the children before building the country, it will be possible to build the country that they expected. A courageous and strong generation is needed to build the country. They should love the country in which they are born. The President commented that all citizens in the country are his relatives. All those living in the North and East as well as in the South and in the up-country are his relatives. His obligation is to improve their living standards. He told the gathering that he considered them as his relatives.“If we change our attitudes first, we could easily change the country and also create a better society,” he said. He urged the younger generation to first change their attitudes and then work for the country.The President made these statements while speaking at the “Mother Sri Lanka” programme at Temple Trees last morning. He underlined that the future generation should be dedicated to making the country the miracle of Asia, winning the world by securing education in Sri Lanka. The President presented awards of the “Mother Sri Lanka” Schools programme.Winners from the Sinhala, Tamil and English medium categories received their awards from the President. Among those present were Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, Deputy Minister T.B. Ekenayake and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
