Tri-Star Apparel provides jobs for 400 rehabilitated ex-LTTE cadres
400 ex-LTTE female cadres who received vocational training in rehabilitation centres have received jobs at the Tri-Star Apparel Factory in Alawwa.
Accordingly, these ex-LTTE female cadres who were rehabilitated at the Weppamkulam and Punthottam centres embarked on a new journey in their lives yesterday, 21 June. 300 female cadres were rehabilitated at Weppamkulam canter while 100 were rehabilitated at Punthottam.
Fifteen rehabilitation centres were established on behalf of 12 thousand LTTE combatants surrendered during the final stage of the humanitarian operation.
Earlier, 500 ex-LTTE combatants received jobs in Jaffna Deport and various other government and private institutes after successfully competing vocational training program in rehabilitation centres.
According to the Ministry of Rehabilitation, 530 child soldiers were rehabilitated and entrusted to their parents while some of them were admitted to the Hindu College, Rathmalana for continuing their studies. Ministry sources further said that 2500 ex-LTTE combatants who were disabled in the conflict were also handed over to their parents after completion of successful rehabilitation program.
400 former LTTE female cadres left to take up jobs at the Tri-Star Apparel Factory in Alawwa yesterday amidst the blessings of relatives and well-wishers.
